Fairy tales are real.
Rose Briar is a diabetic college student without insurance. She’s been scraping by through a combination of maxing out credit cards and relying upon the kindness of strangers.
Unfortunately, she’s spent every dollar at her disposal. There’s no money left to buy her life-saving insulin.
Without her medication, Rose falls into a diabetic coma. She tumbles into a deep slumber and wakes up in a fantastical place called the Dream Realm, where fairy tales and legends of old are still very much alive.
She has one chance to wake up.
She must trek across the world, visit the most powerful object in the land, the Obsidian Spindle, and entreat with the fates; the only beings powerful enough to send her soul back to Earth.
But evil forces don’t want her to leave. They will stop at nothing to capture her and make sure she never goes home again.
Now, with the help of her half-gorgon girlfriend and a mysterious red rider, Rose must race across the land fighting dragons, monsters, and the forces of the Wicked Witch, Nimue, in order to reach the Obsidian Spindle before her body dies on Earth and she’s trapped in the Dream Realm forever.
Will she be able to wake up? Can she survive? Find out by reading The Sleeping Beauty today. If you love mythology, fairy tales, and dark fantasy, then you’ll love the first book in The Obsidian Spindle Saga.

“Stay away from me!” I shouted as the Wicked Witch sauntered toward me.
She smiled, revealing her perfect white teeth. “I don’t think so. You’re an absolutely essential component to my backup plans should the prophesy fall apart.” She leaned in slightly and spoke in a stage whisper. “To tell you the truth, I don’t think your beloved is the chosen one after all.”
“No?” I asked.
Nimue shook her head. “I think it’s you.”
“Me?”
“You entered Urgu on the same day as the dreamer, and with a body, which is much more unique than some dull dreamer girl who we’ve seen a thousand times before.”
“Then why are you killing her?”
Nimue shrugged. “The Red Rider seemed very convinced the dreamer was the key, and my master agreed with her. I hope they are right. At least then her death will mean something. However, it’s no concern of mine if she is not the one. Her death is inconsequential. What’s one more life after I have taken so many?”
“That’s sick. What kind of person thinks like that?” I said, scooting back through the open archway and into the throne room. “You’re toying with me, aren’t you?”
“Of course I am. I so rarely have a day as entertaining as this one. I have defeated Ozma, the Red Rider, and found a way out of Urgu. Two ways, in fact. I could not be happier with how deliciously this day has played out. I honestly don’t think I could take another bite.”
I tried to move my arms to attack, but Nimue had locked them to my sides. I tried to kick free, but they were glued to the ground.
“I’ll never help you,” I said to her.
“You don’t have a choice.”
She was right. I didn’t have a choice. All I had was the silly idea that somehow, I wouldn’t die, and that idea was quickly fading further from reality. My life was very much in danger, and so was Rose’s. I cared little about my own life, but a great deal about hers.
Something moved in my peripheral vision. From behind Nimue, I saw Red push to her feet. She came toward us, wanting to help, but I shook my head slightly. I didn’t care about me. She needed to save Rose. As long as Rose was alive, I was safe. Even if I died saving her, my sacrifice would be worth it.
